MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – New vehicle sales keep increasing on strong demand in Belarus, BelTA reports citing the Belarusian Automobile Association.
“Demand exceeded supply. In August, 2,019 cars were sold, up by almost a quarter month-on-month and up 3.7 times year-on-year. In January-August 2023 the aggregate sales rose 1.8 times year-on-year (11,692 vs 6,408),” the Belarusian Automobile Association informs.
According to the Belarusian Automobile Association, the Geely brand dominates the market with 8,770 cars sold since the beginning of the year (75% of the market).
The association believes that the upward trend will remain in place in September. In the fourth quarter, the import of new car brands will be significantly affected by the change in the exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble against the yuan and the unification of the recycling fee tariffs with the Russian Federation.
