MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Cuba Valery Baranovsky told the STV TV channel about political cooperation between Belarus and Cuba, BelTA informs.
When asked about the state of political relations between the two countries, Valery Baranovsky said: “The political dialogue between our countries can be called perfect. Indeed, we are true comrades, friends. We support each other in all aspects of international relations, on all international platforms. Cuba has recently supported us in the Security Council.”
Commenting on the prospects of increasing the supply of Belarusian equipment and other products to Cuba, Valery Baranovsky noted that such plans are always on the agenda. According to him, certain progress has been made in this matter this year. He stressed that interaction is a two-way-street. “The willingness to cooperate should be shown not only by us, but also by Cuba. And Cuba shows it. It is in a difficult financial and economic situation. Of course, all this, as you know, is the result of American sanctions. These sanctions are rather tough. If sanctions are imposed against us, we can rely on our friends, brothers, neighbors who are by our side. And Cuba is alone in the ocean. For example, if a ship enters a port in Cuba, it cannot call in any other port for 180 days, especially in America. Exports are banned to Cuba by third-country companies of goods containing over 10% or more U.S. origin components,” the ambassador added.
